Brufen dosage, side effects and use


Brufen is basically advice for treating pain, fever, and inflammation. Brufen is also helpful in special medical conditions like painful menstrual periods, migraines, and rheumatoid arthritis. However for young children and senior person it is good to take the medication under doctor advice.

Can i take brufen in pregnancy?

No, it is always advised to not to take brufen in pregnancy especially in the last three months of your pregnancy.

Who should not take brufen?
  • Patients who have a history of gastric or duodenal ulcer.
  • Those who having severe hepatic or renal impairment
  • Pregnancy women and especially avoid it in the last three months of pregnancy. Also avoid breastfeeding if you have taken a brufen tablet.
  • Who have a heart diseases
  • Allergic patients or with asthma, as it can cause bronchospasm which lead to an asthma attack. Apart from it there are several other medical condition in which brufen is strictly avoided.  So consult your doctor before taking brufen.

Overdose of brufen can cause

Overdose of brufen can cause severe medical condition and patient must be taken under observation within an hour of taking overdose of brufen.

In case of overdose one can have symptoms like nausea, vomiting, stomach pain, drowsiness, black or bloody stools, coughing up blood, shallow breathing, fainting, or even coma.

Side effects of brufen
If you are allergic to brufen or having certain medical condition, you can face following side effects of brufen.
  • Nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, constipation and abdominal pain.
  • It can also cause to bleeding in the stomach.
  • Headache, dizziness and mood changes are generally noticed
  • photosensitivity (increased sensitivity to sunlight),
  • decrease in the number of white blood cells (leukopenia),
  • decrease in the number of platelets in the blood (thrombocytopenia),
  • You can also have pain in the upper right abdomen and loss of appetite
  • You can also have flu-like symptoms like fever, cough and sore throat.

If you feel any of these symptoms then you must consult to your doctor.
