Dengue fever symptoms and treatment

Dengue is a kind of fever which causes due to Aedes mosquitoes bite. Dengue can be serious and life threatening if the proper treatment is not given to the patient. Dengue causes the low blood platelet counts and can become more serious if antibiotics are given to the patient. So, it is good to consult doctors before taking any medication.

Since it is just another kind of fever, it is hard to diagnose it in its early stage. There are certain test which is required to be done to reach to the conclusion. However, if you feels like a fever, must consult to you doctor as it may be a normal viral fever also.

Generally, it is advised to take a paracetamol / dolo tablet that reduces the body temperature. It is also advised to take lots of fluid like juice, coconut water, papaya and other fruits in dengue fever to maintain your body water level.

Dengue fever symptoms

If you have a dengue fever you may experience the following symptoms:

• Bodyache especially in the abdomen, joints, back, eyes and muscles
• You can have a tendency of vomiting, nausea and loose motions.
• You may feel the loss of appetite
• Severe headache and sore throat
• Fever
• Rashes and red spots
• In severe cases bleeding is also noticed

Treatment of Dengue Fever

• Take sufficient rest
• Intake sufficient fluid (oral rehydration) is mandatory
• Take only paracetamol tablet to reduce the fever and pain. Not any other medication, consult to emergency in hospital in severe symptoms.
• Take supportive care in a hospital
• Monitoring of blood pressure is also vital
• Transfusion if necessary to replace the blood loss or low platelet counts.

At times dengue fever are severe so, don't take any pain relief or antibiotic tablets. Always seeks for a best medical advice and visit emergency in case of severe symptoms.
